“Stone Fruit”

Fragrant, like edible roses. I wish I’d drawn them first. I wish I’d gotten more than four.

I ate around the stones. I ate them one after another, over the sink, making happy sounds.

Truth be told, I’m standing there still, marked with sticky sweet juice as the world burns.
